AW3423DWF, HDR Color artifacts

Alienware 34 Curved QD OLED Gaming Monitor AW3423DWF

Alienware 34 Curved QD OLED Gaming Monitor AW3423DWF

I just recently got my AW3423DWF which is updated to the M3B104 firmware. I'm connected the monitor using DisplayPort.

In SDR mode it's great. However, when switched to HDR mode their is color artifacts.

This happens in all HDR modes when watching media, YouTube videos and playing games and only when I turn HDR off the image is correct again.

Things I have tried 1. changing to 10bit mode, lowering refresh rate

                               2. console mode on with source tone mapping on

                               3. changing display port, using HDMI and using a different DisplayPort cable

                               4. Reinstalling Display driver

                               5. Reinstalling firmware

                               6. Running another monitor side by side AW2721D and confirm HDR is working correctly on this monitor

Running on Windows 10 Nvidia 3080 Ti with all up to date drivers.

Any ideas what the problem is or is my unit defective?

Top picture is HDR vs SDR bottom pic =

When you play HDR content, what is the monitor menu showing as mode? It should be set to smartHDR.

@Vanadiel

Yes it's set to Smart HDR and in the options you have different HDR configs

cinema hdr, Display hdr true black 400, hdr peak 1000 etc.

When HDR is activated in windows the OSD menu will display HDR+ logo to show monitor is in HDR mode.

@Witchycarcass And you are using the monitor with the supplied cable?

@Vanadiel

Yes correct I have tried other DP cables too and hdmi as stated above.

Since I have another monitor Aw2721d (which is also HDR capable) I can connect them both at the same time and run them side by side and confirm HDR is working correctly on AW2721d.

@Witchycarcass Looks like a monitor issue. I would use the contact button on the lower right of the screen to get help with a possible warranty issue.
