AW3423DW, HDR Peak 1000 dimmer then 400

The HDR 1000 mode on the AW3423DW does not perform very accurately, especially on higher APL scenes, where the screen can dim much more then the HDR 400 True Black mode, even on subtitles and UI elements on games, where the dimming is very noticeable and jarring.

I don't think its just the ABL, as there is no reason for it to drop lower than the HDR 400 mode. I suspect that this is due to poor adherence to the EOTF curve and the brightness level rolling off too soon on HDR Peak 1000 mode. I don't see why it wouldn’t be possible to have both modes deliver the same grayscale tracking, just with the HDR 1000 mode providing added brightness.

I wonder if its possible to have this issue corrected with a firmware update that delivers better EOTF tracking, for what I would gladly send my monitor back for an update, since its the only thing keeping me from giving this monitor a 10/10.

I have the same exact issue! this makes the hdr1000 mode practically not useable! I am considering to return the monitor.
