Aurora R8, GPU fan replacement?

Hey guys,

Probably won't get any responses, but just curious if someone knew if there was a way to order a replacement fan for the dell OEM GPU. I have the RTX 2060 and the fan is starting to make a ticking noise and I found it out it seems to be the bearing. Only happens when the fan speed ramps up but if there was a way to order a new GPU fan for the oem card, I would love to buy one.

Thanks!

Possible yes.  From Dell, no.  Replacing the fan requires disassembling the GPU's shroud, which would void your warranty.  Dell isn't going to sell you a part that requires voiding the warranty. If you were willing to do that, you can get the model number of the fan and if you're lucky, find a replacement from a third party.  Or you can buy just a shroud or a defective GPU using the same spec fan off the second hand market, and swap it out yourself.

Is the card still under warranty, then do it that way.

Otherwise as above, it may be possible to disassemble the fan and then just replace the bearing but from what I've seen (I have cleaned several cards which involves removing the fan) this isn't possible.

Thanks, that was the plan since my PC is no longer on warranty, I have no problem taking it off but it would be nice to know which part the fan is. This was the closest I found based on the bracket the OEM card uses:

But I might take it apart anyway and see if the fan has a model # and I can source it from China or something.

Here's a picture of what it looks like:

I highlighted where the mounting brackets are and if you compare it to the Amazon link I posted above, it has the exact same # of fan blades with the correct position where the mounts are. So I was curious that the shroud with the single fan designed is just an outsourced component but that was where my idea is. The fan bearing is annoying but part of me says it would be a really easy fix.

Yes, appreciate you looking into it. The card I have is a Dell OEM version so its different than the founder's edition that you have. Basically a custom fan/shroud where you cannot find it anywhere else.

But just an update, I decided to purchase this from AliExpress to test and see if it fits. Seems like the fan is outsourced so you can't find it for an RTX card. I'll update this post once the item arrives to see if it fits in the Dell OEM one I pictured.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I was successful in replacing the OEM fan.

It's pretty much the same, there was an annoying rattling when the fan speed kicks up. With the old fan, you could push down on the bearing with your finger like there's a spring so it wasn't totally secure. The new one doesn't have this issue.

Couldn't edit this post, but just wanted to add that the reference card that the Dell OEM one used seems to be based on this Palit 2060:

https://bit-tech.net/reviews/tech/graphics/palit-geforce-rtx-2060-gamingpro-oc-review/1/

The board is missing one extra connector for a second fan and the shroud is definitely a custom one Dell seemed to have built using a fan that belongs to an RX 570. While I think it would be possible to replace the shroud using a dual-fan one, the missing fan connector seems to be the biggest drawback.

Is this just a direct replacement or was this also a beneficial upgrade?
