Aurora R7, PCIe lanes GPU/M.2 question

I have an Aurora r7 i7-8700 non k variant with an upgraded PSU and upgraded 3070. My question is, I noticed the gpu runs at x8 instead of x16. Is this because I have a 1tb m.2 installed in the mobo m.2 slot and it's using up available PCIe lanes and so the GPU drops to x8 instead of x16? If I take the m.2 drive out and use standard drives will the GPU operate at x16 since all the lanes will be available?

Don't bother with the M.2 drive.  Both of the PCIe x16 slots are electrically wired as x8 lanes.
