Aurora R7, need to clone HDD to NVMe for new boot drive

I had an Aurora R7 with Optane memory. I just bought a new Aurora R12 open box on Ebay. The service tag apparently expired in 2021. I successfully took my drives (HDD and 2 SSD's) from the R7 to the R12 and booted up no issue. All things work but because the R12 doesn't have the Optane memory, (the R7 Optane stick is 5 years old so not gonna use) The HDD is too slow. So I would like to clone it to NVME and use HDD as storage. I know how to clone, I just need to know how to effect the switch from HDD to NVME as boot drive after cloning.

Thanks for reading!

If you know how to clone then after the cloning process shut down the system and remove or disconnect the HDD. Upon rebooting the M.2 drive will be found as the boot drive. Once the system boots properly you can reinstall the HDD and format it for further use. According to the specs the M.2 drive will be found as the boot drive.

Jocean is spot on.  whenyou say you know how to clone, there are actually a few ways.  one way I use is to create system image of hdd and then restore the image on the new ssd.  my way would work only if the ssd is at least the same capacity as hdd.  in the system image restore process, your pc would not know the hdd has been physically replaced by the ssd assuming only one of the two is connected to the system at time.  it would boot straight into ssd as if it were still the hdd it knew before.

@JOcean Well, it might not matter anymore. I bricked my OS Boot Drive (as far  as the bootable drive function) and I had to replace it with another but at the same time that fixed my slow drive problem as this new one doesn't have the issue the other one had. Now I just have to decide if I'm gonna attempt a bios install from 1.1.4 to 1.1.24. there are more than ten versions in between. Scary.
