Aurora R5, upgrade to RTX 4060?
Hello, i have an alienware aurora r5 with completely stock components. It has the 1080 i bought with it still currently in at and running just fine. However, im curious if i can upgrade my graphics card to a 4060? If i can im also curious if i would need to upgrade any other components to make it run at peak performance!
please get back to me and thank you!

The best CPU you can put in your Aurora R5 is an i7-6700K. You could install an RTX 3060 and your CPU would still be bottlenecking the graphics card . . . but usable. Any graphics card higher than RTX 3060 would be wasting $$$
This would also be a function of your PSU wattage. I believe the R5 came with either 460 watt or 850 watt PSU. The 450 watt PSU would be insufficient, the 850 watt PSU should work.

it did not seem to make sense to upgrade to 3060 or 4060 based on benchmark. looks like 1080 fps gets worse

My advice almost always is to upgrade the system completely if it's 5 generations or older.
It's honestly not worth the cost...
