Aurora R16, powers on randomly

Alienware Aurora R16

Alienware Aurora R16

Yesterday I set up my new alienware desktop and it works fine. The fan is a little loud 45 decibels. But what is really agitating is that every 30 minutes to an hour it will "power on" for about 10-15 seconds and then turn off. No lights turn on but I can hear internal components powering on and occasionally the light for the graphics card will turn on. What is the solution for this? It's extremely annoying and I want to ensure there's no electrical issue with my new PC.

Thanks!

I had this on my R10 and it kept starting by itself, and I had to do the below:

I used to have a similar problem with the R10 auto booting each day, although I had that feature disabled in the bios.

Try this:

- Enter bios and set it to power on after a power loss

- Save setting and reboot

- Enter bios again, this time set it to not power on after a power loss

- Save and reboot

See if that fixes it. I have noticed that sometimes after a bios update the bios will read settings as on, even when they are shown to be off. Toggling them from on to off will set them in the correct state.

This is just a wild guess basing on past experience which was helped to resolve a similar issue before.  If you are using surge protector or UPS with GREEN feature, you can test to see if the issue is persisted while connecting directly to wall outlet.

The reasoning, certain GREEN power outlets provides such a low energy power that almost similar like power loss state and when the PC can sense the electricity again, it will try to restore to power settings in BIOS, which is stay off by default.
