Aurora R15, constantly crashing to desktop while gaming

I am having problems with my R15. Nothing wrong with the PC when its in normal use, but when i game it just randomly crashes to desktop in games like - Path of Exile, Diablo 4, Palworld, pretty much anything else. Have had the PC for 11 months with no issue, and then out of no where in the last 2 weeks I cannot play a game for more than 30 min without a crash. I have reinstalled drivers, monitored temperatures, and pretty much did everything else I can think of. I do not even know what to tell Dell to call them for warranty issues. Any ideas or same issues? PC- (4090 with 13900KF and 64gb with the 4tbSSD).

Stability issues with the Aurora R15 or Aurora R16 desktops. This problem is impacting every manufacturer shipping products with the Intel 13th and 14th generations of the K CPU. For example, the 13900KF or the 14900KF. Replacing hardware will not fix this.

  1. Update their Windows operating system to the most recent revision available.
  2. Install the latest NVIDIA driver from the desktops Dell Drivers & Downloads page.
  3. Disable the OC Control option from inside the BIOS or AWCC (Alienware Command Center).
    • Disable the OC Control option from the AWCC utility, where the option is unavailable in the BIOS.
  4. In AWCC, select AlienFusion. Change the profile to Balanced mode (Figure 1).
    Note: Do not select Performance or Custom mode as this would trigger issues.
    Changing AWCC profile to Balanced
    Figure 1. Changing AWCC profile to Balanced
  5. If none of the steps above resolved the issue, enter the BIOS setup screens and disable the Intel Speedshift and Speedstep options.
Note: These changes have an impact on the performance of the Alienware Desktops, but they do improve its stability.

I've escalated this issue to our Level 3 support team, and they are currently investigating it. Rest assured that once they find the final solution, I'll share it with you.

And what were the GPU temperatures during the game crash???

HWMONITOR | Softwares | CPUID - Use this program for GPU info while gaming

@Real_Boy85 Cpu temps are between 55-75 and Gpu temps between 60-75.. I have monitored this for many hours.. Without gaming they are about roughly 20 degrees less...

@Apollo615

The temperatures of the GPU core are 60-75 degrees, but what are the temperatures of the memory chips is important!!! That's why I recommended that program to you.

How do you set the ACC speed in the fans???
I have a specially created profile with the name of the game, and the air flow is higher than with an ordinary used PC, for watching movies, browsing the Internet, and the like.

Try to set ACC, if this does not help either, the GPU card is overheating.
Or try MSI Afterburner and play with the GPU settings there.

It happened to me after two years, three crashes during the game and the only solution was GPU service - new thermal paste and new thermal pads.

If the Aurora R15 is under warranty, it requires replacing the GPU or removing the problem.

@Real_Boy85 I set the speed using the Alienware command center (sorry kind of a noobie) to performance when I start heavy usage. With your program it shows the memory temp of the GPU around 50-60 degrees. (looks like its within a few degrees of the acutal gpu.)  Anything else i should look out for because it does not look like overheating is an issue so far. Do you have an alienware system also and they just came out to replace the card?

Thanks so much for responding by the way pretty awesome of you.

@Apollo615

I own an Aurora R12, that is, a worse system for air flow. My warranty already ended on January 4, 2024, and crashes started to appear while playing. Degradation of thermal paste and thermal pads in 2 years was noticeable. That's why I had to replace the thermal paste and thermal pads. I also have an extra cooler that brings air to the GPU, a real improvement :D. My CPU temperatures while surfing the Internet, [many windows] are a maximum of 40 degrees and the GPU goes to 30-35 degrees. Games at 1440p max details GPU maximum temperature at 60fps -50 degrees core and 75 degrees me memory, with recordings 120 -200fps temperature max 70 degrees and 94 degrees me memory.

For me, you have the ACC set wrong.

Or try looking at the Event Viewer and error messages.

Thanks, I think Monday I will give a call to dell... I don't know its real weird, and it did happen right after this newest NVIDIA graphics update. (i even tried rolling back). You recommend setting anything in my nvidia control panel to anything or just leave it all to default or let the option "leave the 3d application decide"? thx again. Coincidentally i have been buying alienware since 2012 and have systems for years with no problems. I also had the R9.. It ran loud but never an issue.

@Apollo615

Call DELL and see what they tell you, or they say that everything is OK. And it will be an endless carousel!
But I have one more question, are you using WIN 10 or WIN 11???

It is difficult for me to advise you from a distance, but I hope you will come to a solution.

I am using win 11 ...

if i call dell they will tell me everything is okay, because all the temps are fine and the pc non-gaming runs normal, there is no way of replicating the problems on the phone at the exact time talking to a rep. i fully uninstalled support assist, and the crashing went down to only 2-4 times a night now. i cant think of what else could be the problem.

@Apollo615

The problem is Windows 11, I used it for a while but switched back to Windows 10.

See the event display and error messages.
Right-click on START and find the event viewer.

It's crazy I've had mine for about 6 or 7 months and in the past few weeks started crashing back to desktop while I'm gaming I've got AMD 7950x and a 4090 had no problems prior even installed the games on a new 990 pro just in case hopefully they figure this out otherwise it's going to be a really expensive paperweight lol

Check the event log, to see what is causing the crash. Event log

If it's a display driver crash, install the latest driver package from Dell, not the latest driver package from Nvidia.

If installing a new driver use DDU to remove all remnants from the previous driver(s), should there be any.

DDU Tutorial

Only use DDU if the event log crashes are related to the display driver, and only if installing the Dell driver still causes crashes.

To update.. i am still having this problem.

I have opened a support ticket and they seemed to be stumped also.

I am crashing to desktop with every type of program now, not just games (google chrome, outlook express, ect.)

I have tried using there nvidia driver and including the newest one available with the same results. I have re-installed windows 11. It seems as time goes on, it seems to get worse.
