Aurora R10, clean install Windows 11 over Windows 10

Alienware Aurora Ryzen Edition R10

Alienware Aurora Ryzen Edition R10

Hello,

I am of the mind that a clean install of an operating system always performs better than an upgraded one.  When I bought my current Alienware Aurora Ryzen R10 it came with Windows 10.  Since I've upgraded to Windows 11, and some things behave a little wonky.   Some things I have been able to fix on my own, some things I have not.

Regardless, my belief that a clean install is better than an upgraded one stands and I want to redo my image as a clean install of Windows 11.  That being said, I still want complete access to all the features and software that came packaged with this Alienware.

While I understand I cannot run the Support Assist Recovery Assistant in order to redo the image without having to go back to Windows 10, what I'm hoping is there is a way to simply install Windows 11 on my boot drive, then install the specific additional Dell/Alienware software that will allow me to use all the features that came with the computer.

What is the best method to go about doing this.  Is there something I can download that would have the package of specific software that was included with my Alienware?

If not a specific software package that includes all of that (and I'm not talking digital delivery, more like the Killer software, the Aliemnware Command Center, Alienware Support Assist, etc). What is the best method of getting the software I want to install post Windows 11 installation, and is there a particular order I should install it in?

If my question shows that while my end goal of having a Windows 11 install with the software that came along with my Alienware is attainable, but my supposed methodology is incorrect as to how I think I have to go about making it happen, please let me know.  Also, let me know what the right way of going about getting my end goal met.

I just don't want to hurt my machine.  I don't mean physically, but I just want my computer to still have access to the other partitions that Dell lays down on the boot drive for all the other stuff including (should I want) being able to go back and reimage my computer back to Windows 10.

I hope this was clear and understandable.

Thanks for reading, and I look forward to seeing your advice.

Just make bootable USB installation media using the Windows 11media creation tool from Microsoft: Windows 11

Than download all OEM software for your R10 from Dell: Dell Drivers

Pending on your licensing you might not be able to activate the Windows 11 installation.

I went ahead and used the Media Creation Tool to make the Windows 11 install USB,  and installed Windows 11 successfully.

Prior to that I had downloaded all the drivers for my system.  I had no problem installing them.

All the associated software (including software that controls the hardware) that is part of my Alienware system installed perfectly; save one.   The Alienware Command Center initially installed, but when I ran it, I had no ability to access my RGB controls, fan, cpu, video card, memory, to configure as I saw fit.

I then noticed in the upper pane in a message stating that an update was required.  So I clicked that message and it started the update.

After it downloaded the update it began running the "InstallShield Wizard for Alienware Command Center Package Manager" and immediately errors started popping up.  From what I could gather, the installer would come to some part of the program that it needed to download before it could install that component. Either that, or the installer wanted to be able to ping a server for some reason.  Regardless, I would get an error message stating it could not connect to the internet.
There is nothing wrong with my internet connection.  I am on this computer now using my internet connection in order to access this webpage that allows me to comse this message and log it via the internet.

I'm not sure what could be happening.   When the error occurs, it gives me the option to Try Again, or Cancel.  Trying again doesn't work.  When I hit cancel, it appears to try to download, ping or whatever then next aspect of the program it needs to install.  Again I get the message stating it cannot connect to the internet.   Trying again doesn't work, so I must again cancel, and this loop of new item after new item that needs to be installed goes on to the point where I have to end the process lest I die of old age.

So I'm not sure how I'm to go about installing this very necessary program.

Any Ideas?

1. Good

2. No "Dell programs" or "Dell drivers" are required for Windows-11 to run properly. Windows-Update will give you everything you need. You can get your video-driver directly from nvidia.com or amd.com .

3. Except this one (AW-CC to control lights and fans).

Uninstall it, reboot and cleanly install it (the latest version validated to run on Aurora-R10). Turn-off it's updating ability. Run computer, reboot a few times ... and see if it starts working.

If you continue to have problems, post what file/version of AW-CC you are trying to install.

AWCC is a problem child. Several users have reported issues with it...

For AWCC issues you can try disabling Windows Core Isolation. It's under Windows security - device security.

It's a newer feature of Windows 11 that has caused some issues for other users.

On my R10 awcc installs itself as a windows application in the directory (Program files > WindowsApps).

I always use the revo uninstaller program to get rid of the bad awcc version problems.

Once done, download and run the full installer on the Dell website, I never update from the awcc program.

Make sure you have the latest updates from the windows store, best would be to login your M$ account.

Be aware that the some anti-virus program, firewall might block you from full install. In this case I always pause until the installation is finished.

Awcc is still a bad boy : My current problem is that it loses ( from time to time) the  CPU, Memory sensors reading, only the gpu is visible, but does not seem to cause actual problems on the fans speeds etc..

I simply reboot to solve that problem,
