DELL XPS 8950, i9, RTX3070 and 460W PSU
I've recently ordered a pre-built DELL XPS 8950 desktop computer. The system has the following specification:
12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-12900K processor (16-Core, 30MB Cache,
3.2GHz to 5.2GHz )
NVIDIA(R) GeForce RTX(TM) 3070 8 GB (LHR)
32GB DDR5, 2x 16GB, at 4400MHz
The problem is the PSU with a 460 Watt rating. The system is currently on its way. What should I do?

If you are not feeling comfortable about your purchase you should maybe cancel it and send the pc back.

I’ve decided to return the computer.
Customers in the US have it much better, they’re able to see what kind of PSU is selected by default and can even configure something else. Here In Germany… nada… BTO is only available for a few select buisness/enterprise devices.
Dell technical support contacted by phone was helpful but couldn’t do much in the end. Upgrades are not possible and changes are made only with parts of the same type.
Additionally I wrote an email to technical_support@help.dell.com but without an answer so far:
Dear DELL Tech Support Team,
I‘ve recently purchased a DELL pre-built desktop computer XPS 8950 with the following hardware configuration:
12th Gen Intel Core i9-12900K processor (16-Core, 30MB Cache, 3.2GHz to 5.2GHz)
32GB DDR5, 2x 16GB, at 4400MHz
1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe solid state drive
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 8 GB (LHR)
DVD-R/W optical drive
460W PSU
Considering the specifications of the CPU and GPU alone, the 460-Watt power supply is questionable and inappropriate for the system. The CPU is specified with a sustained (>1s) power draw of up to 241W and even higher peaks for short periods (<=10ms). The GPU has a power requirement of 220W under load. NVIDIA for example recommends a 650W PSU for a system with RTX 3070.
The 460W power supply was pre-configured by DELL and could not be changed manually during the ordering process, and it was not even apparent exactly which power supply would be used. This misconfiguration was done by DELL and needs to be fixed. I would like the power supply to be upgraded to a more suitable and also safer variant.
