XPS 13 9300 with WD19TB - External display not coming on after sleep
Hello,
I am experiencing an issue where when I try to wake my computer by pressing a key or moving the mouse, the external display often does not come back on. Trying to turn it off and on again does not work. Often the only solution is to reboot it or try to unplug and replug the dock several times.
Relevant Hardware:
Dell XPS 13 9300 - BIOS v1.1.0
Dell WD19TB Dock - RTS5487 has v01.47 and RTS5413 has v01.21
External Monitor: LG 32UD99-W 4K - Connected via WD19TB using Displayport cable
Relevant Software:
Linux kernel version: 5.7.16
Display Driver: i915
Potentially related error messages:
xhci_hcd 0000:2e:00.0: xHCI host controller not responding, assume dead
pcieport 0000:2d:04.0: can't change power state from D3cold to D0 (config space inaccessible)

I'm running Windows 11 on a new XPS 13 (9300) with a WD19TB docking station and having the same problem. Removing and reinserting the USB cord wakes the screen and other peripherals.
Update=Issue is resolved after changing the settings in BIOS.

I guess this is essentially the same issue as https://www.dell.com/community/XPS/XPS-13-9300-and-WD19TB-linux-problem/td-p/7644488
I have a XPS 13 9300, WD19TB dock, and 2 Dell monitors connected via DP and get all these problems. The problems are a little difficult to describe because there are a number of odd display (and some dock disconnect) related issues but nothing happens consistently. The setup is just very flaky.

I have the 9300 and the WD19TB connected via DP cable to a DELL S3221QS monitor and I have this same issue.
Can press the power button on the docking station and my laptop will come on (I have the laptop in a stand with the lid closed Power options: do nothing when lid closed when plugged in). But the monitor will not come on. Not until I remove the USB-C cable from the laptop and pug it back in.
When putting the laptop to sleep, then waking it by pressing the power button on the dock, it works and the screen comes on.
Hope this helps somebody and I will continue my search for the answer to the cold boot issue.

@BashaBill both of us who posted above are running Linux, like in the thread I linked to. You don't say but are you running Linux as well?

@sailsamn curious to know what settings you changed in the BIOS?
