print shop deluxe will not install

i received the print shop deluxe version 20 with my dell xps gen4 computer. it was not preloaded. when i try to install it the way it tells me to do in the instructions all i get is:

D:\setup.exe

only part of a ReadProcessMemeory or WriteProcessMemory was completed.

when i go into the sepup folder on the cd and run setup from there it tries to install printshop but about 1/4 of the way into the install i get this:

Error 1305

error reading from file c:\programfiles\commonfiles\broderbund\UMM\crdmind.exe. verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

so, what are my options now. do i call dell suport or broderbund or what.

It sounds like defective software.  You have 21 days to contact Dell and get a replacement.  After that you are on your own.

I have the Retail V20 and it installed without any problems.

I have had nothing but problems with Print Shop. I think it (PS20) took up too much memory on my old computer, taking 5 minutes to load up. The previous PS6 caused many problems also. I am afraid to put Print Shop 20 on the new Dell. Is there any other recommended software programs similar to PS? I only use a few templates and don't need such a powerful program. I always had an error message with both Print Shop versions when I was finished doing a project or the computer would freeze up. I think a company called Riverdeep Interactive Learning is now involved/or taking over Broderbund. Broderbund's service phone number no longer works. Print Shop 20 made me install IE6 when I installed it. PS took up mega space! Sorry I couldn't be of any help for you. Hope some one will come along with some comments.
