When I start up VPN(either Cisco's or Windows' ), Windows will hang for a while

Hi there everyone

 

I have a big problem here.

 

I have a Cisco VPN client and also the Windows XP PPTP VPN client that came with Windows. I have tried to use both of them to connect to my VPN network. But as soon as it is connected, the taskbar will hang for almost 5 mins before saying that the connection was successful

 

I have an Inspiron 6000 and I am wondering if anyone has encountered such weird problems with VPN in Windows XP.

 

I have Windows XP SP2, and have installed the most recent Windows updates. I also scan my computer every night for viruses and spyware.
