OK The problem is with a dell inspiron 1300 running xp home edition.
When I look at the bios I have no section called drives.
So... I don't think I can download any thing through dos as the os is xp so I thought I would try a reinstall of xp repairing the edition I have.
It goes through a sequence while setup copies files to the windows installation folder and then pops up with a "files needed" dialogue box
"The file 'asms' on Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 CD is needed.
Type the path where the file is located and then click OK"
How do I get hold of a ASMS file?
