2 DVD RW Drives but I can't burn DVDs to either - error message Parameter is Invalid 19007

I am unable to record TV recordings to either of my DVD drives.  I have Sonic MyDVD and Windows Media Cente, but am unable to record by either application.  I have two DVD RW drives - _NEC DVD+-RW ND-3650A and HL-DT-ST DVD +-RW GSA H31N.  The DVD appears to be copying correctly, but when it gets almost to the end of the procedure, it automatically cancels the recording and gives the error message 'Parameter is Invalid - 19007'.  I have tried recording to DVD-RW and DVD+RW. I have only ever managed to record a DVD ONCE before these problems occurred. I am able to play and record CDs successfully, and I can also play pre-recorded DVDs.

I also get errors as follows when I exit MyDVD:

The instruction at "0x0036af18" referenced memory at "0x0025f5d0". The memory could not be written. Click on OK to terminate the program.

When I click on OK I get the following (or something similar)

The exception Priviliged Instruction (0xc0000096) occurred in the application at location 0x00363cf0. Click on OK to terminate the program.

(Sometimes I get a message saying the memory could not be read).

When I click on OK I get the following (or something very similar)

Runtime Error!

Program..... ommon Files\Sonic Shared\Sonic Central\Main\Mediahub.exe

R6025

- pure virtual function call

OK

Obviously my main concern is not being able to record DVDs.  I have contacted Sonic, who have not bothered to reply to my last two messages.  Dell Support are saying that it is a software problem and that technical support are unable to help and I should contact Dell Solution Centre for a charge. Can anyone help me please?

Three suggestions:
  1. Uninstall and reinstall MyDVD.
  2. Check downloads for a MyDVD patch (click technical support above and go to downloads).
  3. Try a different brand of DVD-RW or DVD+RW discs. If you have DVD-R or DVD+R, try those rather than RW discs.

Please provide your system model when you post back.

I'm experiencing a similar problem (two drives are TSST DVD+-RW H553-A and PHILIPS DVD+-RW DVD8631).  Sonic MyDVD stalls and I get the following error when burning using MediaCenter: "SBE Server has encounterd a problem and needs to close".  I was burning DVDs fine until yesterday (Thursday).

What has changed in a day that would cause this problem?
Also, any idea how to reinstall MyDVD when no CD was provided with the PC?

Vijay2U:

Please start another thread. It's really tough to solve separate issues in a single thread. Provide your system model when you post back and tell us whether either drive was/was not installed by Dell. If you need media, contact customer service and they'll ship discs if you're still under warranty.

Thank you Osprey.

I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and have also used updating patches (I have usually tried the obvious before calling technical support or using a forum).  I have currently tried Maxell DVD-RW and DVD+RW, but neither work (although I did have success the very first time I tried with a DVD-RW but never since, although I haven't installed anything new since then).  I will try a different brand (it's costing me a fortune in blank discs that I cannot use!).

Also I have just noticed that when I open my computer, the drive changes from DVD-RW Drive to a CD Drive when I insert a blank DVD disc - does that throw any light on the problem?

Do you have a DVD+R or DVD-R disc you can try? Can you burn CDs without a problem?

Sorry, I have a Dimension 9200, Viiv Pentium D945, 3.4 GHz, 800 Mhz, Dual Channel 4096 MB RAM, 500 GB Serial ATA Hard Drive

I have not got a DVD-R or DVD+R to try yet, but I will buy some tomorrow.  However, I have been experiementing today and can report the following.  I am able to copy an Audio CD to a CD-R and CD-RW, and have been able to create an Audio CD on a CD-RW from the WMA files I have in Windows Media Player.  I have managed to play these audio cds on compatible players around our home.

I have also managed to copy a photograph, music file and TV recording (.dvr_ms file) from my PC onto a both Maxell DVD+RW and DVD-RW via data files and DLA.  These are then playable through Windows Media Player, but not through Windows Media Centre.  Strangely enough, Windows Media Centre allowed me to record a data DVD, but won't let me play it back!!  Also I am not able to watch a pre-recorded DVD through 'MyDVD', although I do have Cineplayer installed on the PC.

However, I am still unable to create a DVD Video.  Although MyDVD will allow me to create a project, give it a title page, add the recordings I have made from the TV (recorded through Windows Media Centre), it will go through the process of creating the DVD but cancel it at the last minute and give the error message 'Parameter is Invalid 19007.  I also still get the following when I close MyDVD:

OK

The application then closes.

This is obviously pointing to a software problem.  Have you any bright ideas for what I should try next, or should I just buy some recording software?  Sonic/Roxio are obviously not going to reply to my posts of 10.1.07 and 17.1.07.

Your advice will be appreciated.

I still haven't managed to resolve this problem, even though I have now purchased and installed Roxio CD & DVD Creator 6.  Having looked this issue up on the internet, I evidently need to be able to convert the .DVR_MS files to .VOB in order to play on a set top player, and this is where the problem lies.  You should be able to do this in Windows Media Centre, and when I looked this up on the Microsoft Website, I found the following page http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/mediacenter/using/DVD/burntvtodvd.mspx which gives instructions to do so.  However, I do not have the option to produce a Video DVD and it clearly states that "If the Video DVD option is not displayed on the Disc Format page, the DVD burning software is not installed or is not working correctly.  Contact your hardware manufacturer for assistance."  However Dell (who I consider to be the hardware manufacturer) have washed their hands of this problem.

There must be a file or driver missing somewhere. Can anyone advise please.

Creating the VOB file is a process called encoding. Roxio has that capability. I'm just not sure what input files it can take. Since this is going beyond the scope of this forum (and my experience), let me suggest you try the video editing forum.
