Is Kodak ESP 5AiO Printer has a Win7 x64 compatible driver?

I tried to fined a driver through the Win7 Devices update Kodak does not show up.

Then went to Kodak site and installed the following driver:

KODAK All-in-One Printer Software (including drivers) for all 5000-Series and ESP-Series Printers 5.1.0

Printer test page works comes as normal but I am unable to print word document.

Can anybody verify if Kodak ESP 5 All - in - one Printer works under Win7 x64?

Thanking you.

Hello Rick,

Problem solved with a new printhead.

The problem was with the Printhead. Kodak has provided me with a new printhead all is working well.:emotion-2: .

Printheads are not for sale and I do not know how I could have solved my problem if I'd run out of gurantee period!!

Regards

snowshine,

A couple of things to try.

First run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print jobs stuck in the queue.

Second, try opening the Word document. Click on file, print and please make sure the proper printer is selected. If the printer was installed after Word, and in most cases it usually is, then Word defaults to something to print to, which is usually something like Microsoft XPS Document.

Let's stop here for now and see if this works. If notpost back and we'll try a few other things.

Hello rick,

Thank you for your help. I have tried the above mentioned and still could not print.

Now, I should perhaps describe the difficulty.

Few week ago I for the first time installed this Kodak driver for Win7 from Kodak site and installed the printer and put in new ink cartridges belongs to Kodak [I did not have any printer until then]. After which I did pritnt documents on three occassions without any problem.

For the last two weeks I did not use the printer. I did however update the Nvidia driver in the intervening period.

I when yesterday attempted to print a form from a web page that was opened in Adobe reader. The form was in colour format. The print in black appeared very washed out as if ink had run out. But the ink details suggests otherwise. Ink indicator reveal as cartridges 3/4 full for colour & black.

I this morning uninstalled the printer driver through Add/Remove and reinstalled the driver from Kodak site. After this this morning I tried to flash the firmware from the samesite but it did not take place and a message appeared to inform that the firmware is upto date.

Then I tried "Print a test page" colour print was ok but the black was not correct.

I also tried to photo copy a document again the print in black appeard very uneven and as if washed out appearence.

Could it be faulty ink?

I took out the ink cartridge and shook the cartridge and got sprayed with black all over me.!!

What do you think?

Hi Rick,

Further to my last posting I have now established the problem. I suspect it is with the black printer head/nozzle.

My suspision is because, I changed to a new black cartridge and the problem persists.

Then I decided to try, by writing a document in different colours[Red,Green,Blue,Magenta] in the MS Word and then printed. The printing is fine.

I tried to clean the printer head through the Kodak's AiO Home Centre but it has not resolved my problem. Also tried to Nozzle correction,Printhead alignment and see no difference.

Can you think of any-other way to get the black printer head working again?

Regards

snowshine,

For Dell Printers, unplugging the printer from the wall and removing the power brick for 60 seconds resets any error messages the printer is getting. After you plug it back in, then reseat the ink cartridges withg the power on.

Can you copy a document when you put it under the glass? B&W and color?

I don't know if your printer has this feature or not.

Are you using the Brand name cartridges? Do not use refilled cartridges, if the cartridges have a sensor in them, this will also have problems.

Hi Rick,

The problem persist after following above step. The problem is still with the black.

When I copy a document by putting under the glass; The letters in colour come out very well but the black letters on the original document does not . Again the black printer head is not functioning, I presume.

Are you using the Brand name cartridges? Do not use refilled cartridges

I am only using the Kodak Branded ink cartridges not refills. I bought a new kodak black cartridge just this morning from a reputable out-let and replaced it .

I must thank you Rick for your time and suggestion. You are very helpful.

Well if it does not work it does not,I suppose. life is like that some times.

snowshine,

Sounds like a defective balck cartridge. The usual recommendation is to take it back to the place of purchase for a replacement. Most places do replace the cartridges that are defective.

Hello

Further research reveal that there are many having same problem as mine. This is due to Printhead failure!! I am told that the Kodak customers in USA & Canada are issued with new printhead free of charge. I am from UK and I have been advised to call the British Kodak customer services on a premium phone number on a working day from Monday to Friday to see what happens!!

This is not ideal world, I suppose but I will not recommend Kodak to any-one for sure!!

Sorry to hear about that. Hopefully they'll replace this no matter which country you're in.

Take care,

I have a P703w and having issues....  when I print the black ink seems faded...  almost grey.  I use the Dell Inksave program and they are absolutely no help.  Called Dell and they are impossible to deal with.

I just want my printer fixed....  help?!?!?!

 BigMan1Esq,

Is your printer under waranty? If so, then contact Dell tech support. If my memory serves me correctly, this printer was made for Dell by Kodak. There were some models that had printhead issues, this may be one of them.

You could try installing the Vista 64-bit drivers in the Compatibility mode and see if that works.

I am wondering if anyone would be intersted in initiating a class action law suit against Dell and Kodak for the problem with 703's print heads? It is obviously a wide spread problem, probably a design flaw, and  they refuse to own up to it and do the right thing.
