XPS M1330, bluetooth and Blackberry
I have an XPS M1330 with the Dell 355 Bluetooth module. Overall it works fine. I can stream audio and even use the Bluetooth to switch tracks and volume. What doesn't work, my Blackberry as a modem or to sync over Bluetooth. It seems that the Dell Bluetooth drivers has only a very limited set of profiles that it includes. Windows finds 2 Bluetooth devices that it does not have drivers for: The hardware IDs are: BTHENUM\{426c6163-6b42-6572-7279-427970617373}_LOCALMFG&000f and BTHENUM\{426c6163-6b42-6572-7279-44736b746f70}_LOCALMFG&000f The first seems to be some sort of Bluetooth modem while the second seems to be a serial port. I'm using the Dell Bluetooth drivers R140135. The posting date is 07/10/2007 but the release date says 01/26/2007. Has anyone else run into this problem or found a solution?

I've done a lot of digging on this problem and it lookslike it is a problem that Dell needs to solve. Apparently in Vista, they removed some of the older Bluetooth profiles which the Blackberry depends upon. If I am interpreting Microsoft's documentation correctly they have now put the burden on the Bluetooth manufacturer to provide these profiles.
Since you cannot use the Broadcom/Widcomm update program directly it is up to Dell to resolve this issue with Broadcom/Widcomm and get the additional profiles working. Either that or we can beat on RIM to remove those profiles and use different ones. All I can see now is finger pointing unless one of the companies steps up and does the right thing for their users.

This problem was caused by a compatibility issue between this version of Windows and BlackBerry Bluetooth Device.
This product is usually distributed by the company that manufactured your device or computer.
Note: If you bought BlackBerry Bluetooth Device from a retailer and installed it yourself, you will need to contact its manufacturer.

Strange as the Blackberry are fine with other pcs, someone needs to get dell and blackberry talking big time. As a company buyer there is no way i intend to purchae any more Dell units until this problems is resolved.
