Can not connect to Road Runner w/True Mobile

I have Road Runner connecting to the input (WAN) of a Linksys Etherfast Router.
One connection from the router goes to my docking station or port replicator. I
was able to get Road Runner to work when the laptop is docked.

The second connection from the router goes to the Dell Residential Gateway unit
used with the True Mobile 1150 Series Wireless LAN card. I have the wireless
connection up and running with excellent signal strength and 11.0Mbps.

However, I do not get anything in the browser window when I type in a website.
I have restarted the computer, unplugged the cable modem and hit the reset on
the RG1000. I can not seem to get anything to show in IE.

Has anyone gotten the Dell RG and TrueMobile wireless card to work with a
cable ISP? Does my basic hardware setup make sense? For now, the laptop is
the only computer in the house. I purchased the wireless option so I could use
Road Runner in the family room or back on the deck.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Did you try to use the “Internet connection wizard”? I’m don’t know if it’s the same for WinXP but, Right click the Internet Explorer icon on the “Desktop” and select Properties/ Connection tab/ Setup/ and choose “ I want to setup my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network”/ click “ Next” and follow the prompts.

DNS problems? ( ”click here”)

I’m assuming that you’ve already configured the NIC correctly in “Network Properties”, since you have the docking station working.

Are you using a personal firewall (i.e.- ZoneAlarm)?

I also found this a while ago from an outside forum.

Reply:
First, powercycle your modem. Then if you go to my network places, and right click on "My lan connection" there is an option to repair. Do so. What this function does, is that it replaces the winsock files with the original source (kind of like `ol SFC, but just for your winsock files). It also releases and renews your IP. Now if you get an error it means 2 things:
a) You are experiencing a DHCP server error, and need to contact your ISP.
b) You've turned on your XP Firewall. turn it off, and try again.
That's it!! Alternatively, you can powercycle your modem, and reboot. When XP boots, it reinitializes your winsock files! So once you reboot, and you've turned of the XP firewall, and you still can't surf, call your ISP's tech support.

You can also post in the Dimension Network forum. There’s some very knowledgeable users that frequent that that forum.

I wish I could help you with your problem, but I'm having a similar problem. I have roadrunner and can't seem to get my residential gateway to work. I'm getting a signal from both the desktop and the laptop. I have the ethernet cable plugged into the cable modem and the gateway. Someone told me I may need a RJ-47 cable? I know I must have it connected incorrectly. I can't get internet explorer to open up a homepage.
The Gateway activity light is blinking, but no connection.
I'm beginning to get frustrated with this.
I've had nothing but problems with it.
Help!!
