Monitor stand is stuck in down position
I posted this earlier today and for some reason it was deleted. (I know it was here an hour after I posted it so I'm unsure why it was deleted). Anyway. I have a Dell UltraSharp 2405FPW Monitor and today by accident I pushed the monitor down and it clicked into the locked position. Up until today I wasn't even aware it had that. Long story short I came to the dell website and discovered you need to push the button to unlock it. Sadly this doens't work on my stand. The button pushes in fine, but the monitor stand will not raise up. I use both Landscape and Portrait modes daily and really need the stand to go back up so I can rotate it. With it all the way down, it's almost impossible to rotate and when you do you have to angle it back as far as it goes which makes it worthless. I went onto Dell Chat and was basically told tough luck and I would need to find someone else to repair it for me or buy a new monitor. Then he disconnected from me. Note I was not angry or abusive up to this point, I was just trying to get it fixed. Needless to say after he abruptly ended the session I was less than happy as I had wasted almost my entire morning trying to resolve this (only 30 minutes at most was with the chat guy). Anyway. The system is an XPS 600 and is still under Warranty for another year. I really don't want to spend another $600 on a new monitor just because the stand is stuck, but I really need to be able to go back and fourth between landscape and portrait. Does anyone know some way for me to either fix this or get Dell to help me resolve this problem? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

When you experience any sticking or jamming with the monitor stand, perform the following steps =
While pushing the stand lock/release button on the back side of the stand, press down on top of the monitor towards the ground, then gently pull the monitor up.

You have to push down pretty hard from the top of the monitor while pushing the button. Try again.

Did you try removing the stand and un-jamming it. May be a simple fix, less time than you spent in chat

I had already used the link suggested before I even went onto Dell chat. I did try and use my warranty and I do think this is a warranty issue, but when I was on Chat with the dell rep, he said "well thats all I can do" in reference to the few suggestions he gave for getting the stand unstuck. When I asked if I could get them to repair it, he said I should try and find someone locally to repair it for me. When I said there were several posts on the boards where people had gotten their stands fixed under warranty, he asked for a link to one. I posted him a link and about two minutes later he ended the session without warning.

I've pushed down about every way imaginable. I've tried pushing hard, soft and everything in between. I've tried twisting the monitor to both sides in varying degrees as I pushed the button. I've taken the stand off the monitor and pushed the button in and pulled really hard, you name it. (All the above was suggested by the dell chat rep). The button goes all the way in fine, it's just that the height adjuster won't release. Any other ideas, and can someone tell me if this should be covered by the warranty? To me it should. I have 5 dell computers running in my home currently and Dell has always been awesome about covering any problem I have ever had up until now. Did I just get an uninformed rep or am I really going to have to buy a new $600 monitor because the stand is defective? I've already heard you can't just buy the stand.

I just wanted to publicly thank DELL-ChrisM for helping me resolve this problem. Both a call to Dell XPS support and Dell Chat left me frustrated. DELL-ChrisM resolved my problem. Talk about great fast service! Makes me not regret my 10+ years of purchasing nothing but Dells!

THANK YOU! My monitor has been jammed at the bottom for some time! Just stumbled across your simple solution; I've naturally tried pressing the button and pulling upward!
