LG monitor, screen went white
So I see the dates on this thread are from 7 years ago but no one kept anyone posted. Experiencing the same problem with my LG monitor has brought me to this page to try and find a solution. I am assuming by the silence that the project was given up on and everyone went home, yes? I have an LG LED monitor (not sure if this technology made it to 2012 lol) anyway it has just gone white. First it was white with a black stripe down the middle (or it could have been vice versa) and then it worked for a couple of weeks and then just white. I put another monitor on the pc (it's a multi monitor PC) and it worked fine so it wasn't the GPU and I also tried the monitor on another pc (I have a few) and it just stayed white so I am assuming this means it is dead yes? I had the monitor since buying it new and it has always been mounted on a monitor stand with others on the same apparatus so it was never moved around in any way shape or form. Any ideas before i toss it in the bin?

Hi Chris
Thanks for the reply
The funny thing is, I saw a video on youtube and this guy said to tap the back of the screen lightly and it would start working. I initially thought this was a joke and i had already bought another monitor and was about to throw the LG monitor out but thought what the heck have i got to lose so i followed his instructions and it worked. The monitor lit up and was not white anymore and when i plugged it in it showed the desktop icons. I know this sounds cavemanish but it really did work and is still working now lol
Thanks anyway though i will check out if there is a diagnostic for the monitor
Regards
John

All Dell monitors have a stand alone BID (Built-in Diagnostics) test. You should check the LG site for your specific monitor model to see if it has such a test to run.
