2001 monitor "clicking noise" problems

Hi, I got my monitor for about a week ago. Now I have noticed that after it has been on for about 15-20 minuts a clicking noise can be heard from it. On random occasions, but about once every 5th minut. But what is worse, and harder to understand, is that these noises still appear after I have turne off the monitor, unplugged all cables. This can go on for hours! So apparently it can't be electrically related. Perhaps it is something about the plastic that "is moving"? This is driving me nuts, I had to put the montior in the kitchen to be able to get some sleep last nigth. Anyone know anything about my issue?

Thanks for any reply.

me_gerber,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Are you sure the noise is coming from the monitor even when it is off? If so, maybe you should email support@dell.com  and have the monitor replaced.

Hi,

yes I am sure. My colleagues at the work have the same monitor and they

all think that my problem sounds quite strange. And so do I. I have talked with Dell

about replacing the monitor, however I am curious about what can be the problem?

It must be someething mechanical. Mechanics sliding inside if the monitor get shot/cold?

Just my speculation.

Hi,
I have a 17" TFT and mine also makes this clicking noise.
While it is on, I experience no problems, however when I switch it off the noise starts. It continues for hours and is very annoying.
