processor microcode update failure, help !!!!!!!!!

I bought a  PIII-450 cpu and upgrade my notebook(PII-400) then I  start the computer ,the system display "processer microcode update failure"although i press F1 to pass it ,i can`t auto turnon my notebook(always need me press F1 to pass it )from now on .can i fix it !

You can thank Dell for not upgrading your BIOS to support more recent processors. You won't be able to bypass the F1 because it's hardcoded into your bios..and there's no know way to circumvent/alter/whatever that.

The good news is you can still use modern OS's (2000 and XP) because they soft-load the required microcode for your faster processor, after you push F1...

Honestly though 400->450MHz isn't gonna make much perf difference...you'd be better of putting 512MB of RAM under the hood.

If you have a CPT-C, CPiR or similar derivative of the CPx line, you can buy a more recent motherboard and drop it into the existing plastics/periherals... the p/n 2844T (CPxH) is a good one that will take you up to 650MHz or so (beyond that the MMC-2 CPU's get very expensive) you can reflash this to act like a CPxJ (Google is your friend). The LCD's are compatible across a wide range of motherboards. Go see Stonent's laptop site for starters.
