Turn on keyboard when 2-in-1 is folded
I have my laptop plugged into an external monitor, and want to be able to use the laptop's keyboard while the laptop is folded completely flat. I can't seem to find this option in settings.
Any and all suggestions are appreciated!
Thanks!
note: using a Dell Inspiron 2-in-1 running windows 10

What specific model number?
The 2in1 has four modes = Notebook, Tablet, Stand, Tent
It sounds like you are starting in Notebook mode, then pushing the LCD down flat on the desk? Is that correct?

Ya, tablet mode with the screen down. I have a Inspiron 7359 2-in-1.
Thanks!

If it is in Tablet mode, the keyboard is facedown on the desktop? So you cannot physically use it. Perhaps I am not understanding what you really mean, "and want to be able to use the laptop's keyboard while the laptop is folded completely flat".

No, you understood right the first time. It is folded in half, screen down, keyboard up and plugged into an external monitor. I want to be able to use the keyboard while it is folded in tablet mode (with the keyboard facing up).

I do not think that the screen should be placed face down on any surface. Notice none of the recommended modes have that option. You will scratch/damage it. My advice, run it in Notebook mode with the external monitor set as extended or windows desktop cloned. Then you can use the keyboard.

@Dell-Chris M, you are providing terrible customer service. If the customer wants to put the laptop face down and use the keyboard why do you have to chide him into not doing that?
not sure about your computer but on my computer you can go to Start > Keyboard, then Keyboard Lock. Set "never lock keyboard and touchpad." then the keyboard won't lock. but I haven't figured out how to get the keyboard backlights to keep working

It isn't terrible customer service to state that an unsupported use of the system is just that -- unsupported.
The system isn't designed to be used in a way the user wants. Best answer: use an external keyboard.

As was mentioned, most users understand a 2-in-1 system will disable the keyboard to keep inadvertent keystrokes from occurring. It is handled through a switch which activates anytime the lid is open more than 180 degrees.
You could always use it in a laptop configuration. I suppose there could be a heat concern if a display was face down on some type of surface.
