Mini 1012 max memory

I just purchased a Mini 1012 that comes with 1 gig memory installed. According to the Dell Rep I spoke with, the 1 gig comes installed on the Mother Board, which means the memory slot under the key board should be empty. If this is true, then I plan to install the 2gig memory module that Dell offers as an upgrade for the Mini 10 series. This means the Mini 1012 will have a total of 3 gig of memory installed. Will it recognize the 3 gig? Thanks for any help.

There is no onboard RAM - there's just one socket.  If you have a 1G module now, you must replace it with a 2G module.

No, the Intel Atom CPU in this system is incapable of addressing more than 2G of RAM (and the CPU is soldered, so it's not upgradeble).
