How to adjust TV screen width with HDMI connection to Inspirion Laptop
The HDMI connection works but the screen on the TV is losing the edges: Is there a way to change the resolution on the HDMI output?
Thanks - JEDNJ

Hi Jednj,
What is the current resolution that the display is set to when connected to the TV. Also what is the model number of the laptop. Eg, inspiron 3521, 3541, 5547, 7568, 7559. Aslo the current OS installed on the computer like windows 10/ 8.1/ 7 etc.

When I connect my XPS 13 9350 to a TV via HDMI I need to go into the settings menu on the TV and change the picture display option for size from 16:9 to Screen Fit. It's a little different for every TV make but I've done this on my Samsung and on LG TVs in hotel rooms.

Try setting the resolution to 1366*768 or 1360*768 and check if the aspect ratio suits the tv fine. If you want it at 1920*1080, you would have to manually adjust the aspect ratio either in the intel graphics control panel or in the AMD catalyst control center. MY tv though it is a Full HD and my laptop's native display is 1080p, the tv can only show 1360*768 resolution. Just a word of caution, though you might set the display resolution to 1080p on the tv and manage to adjust the aspect ratio/ borders, the text might still show pretty unclear.
