FN Key stuck on
Hi everyone..
I am using a latitude cpi with windows XP Pro.
The FN key seems to be jammed on and so for example, when I type the letters u,i,o or j,k,l i get the blue numbers instead of the letters.
Maybe I hit a combination of keys and jammed this function on, its killin me already, and I need to fix this by next week as i cant be sat on a train with an external keyboard on ma lap!!!
You see my predicament right?
Thanks ahead of time...

TheBeech,
Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
The following are suggestions you should take to correct the problem:
Place the System Software CD in your computer. Reset the machine and when the Dell logo appears on the screen, press and release [F2] several times until you are in the BIOS. Press the right arrow key to go to the BOOT menu or hold [Alt] and [P] simultaneously to progress to the second page. Change the boot sequence to CD/DVD drive, Floppy drive, Internal HDD. Now press [Esc] or [F10] to save and exit the BIOS.
The following knowledge base article can help you with this:
How to run the Dell diagnostic test knowledge base article.
The program should automatically load. Choose to run the test on the keyboard.
If none of these help, you may consider contacting Dell Support for a solution.

Hey Bob-T thank sof r the quick response!
Ok, If I plug an external keyboard in, then the keyboard on the latitude works fine.as soon as I unplug it it then reverts to the FN issue mentioned before.
Thanks

Try seeing if the key is engaged. Simple....
Dell missed that one on this thread...
