Dell Media Direct with iTunes

How do I change my settings for Dell Media Direct so that I can use it with iTunes?

I've got the buttons working with iTunes, but only when it is already opened and the active window. Is there any way to set a button, like the Play button, to launch iTunes when it is not already open? How about controlling non-Windows Media Player applications when they aren't the active window?
