Audio output through bluetooth problem

Hello,

few day ago I bought my first Dell laptop (Inspiron 7720) and I can't make my bluetooth audiosystem (Logitech Mini Boombox) to work. I've got positive experience on Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Xi2550 and on HP Compaq 6530b, where I had to just download another drivers for widdcomm bt adapter. I tried to do this trick o this computer, but I get only three bluetooth peripheral devices, which I can't install, because there is no driver for them. What shoud I do to make audio transfer through A2DP to work?

Thank you for your replies and pardon my english.

It's working!

After problems with connection to my phone a asumed, it's not problem only with Logitech Mini Boombox, but with bluetooth drivers in general... so I tried again drivers from Dell's Inspiron 7720 driver web page, but no luck. So I've been looking for separate BT drivers for centrino n-2230 and I found this:

www.dell.com/.../alienware-m18x-r2

And it worked! So no I'm backing up this driver to several external drivers and to my google drive for future use. It's funny, that no one on five forums helped me...

Thanks for quick reply. I have the bluetooth drivers installed and Logitech troubleshooting is good as any troubleshooting when you have really specific problem - not good at all.

This is my problem:

Bluetooth drivers are working, I am able to pair the device. Problem is in instalation of all services.

Like I said, I had a similar problem no HP Compaq 6530b. Supposedly Windows 7 don't carry support of A2DP protocol, so I found original Widdcomm drivers BTW_6.2.0.9700 and with them I've got it to work.

So on this Dell laptop, when MS drivers and Dell drivers can't work with this audio device, I tried to use Widdcomm drivers in version mentioned above and in current version of 6.5.1.2501 but the result is the same, except I don't see just 3 bluetooth peripheral devices but only two and moreover there is Bluetooth Remote Control and Bluetooth Hands-free Audio. So I know, I'm on the right path but not quiet there yet.

Hi mir77,

There are no separate drivers for the Logitech Mini Boom box. Please check if the Bluetooth drivers are listed in the device manager.

  • Click on Start (for windows 8 press Windows key and W together)
  • Type in Device Manager on the search bar and press enter
  • Check for Bluetooth Radios.
If you do not have Bluetooth Radio listed on the device manager, you will need to install the Bluetooth driver. You can click on the link below, enter the system service tag, choose the operating system, click on Network and install the Bluetooth driver.
In case of any difficulty I have added you as a friend. Please accept my friend request by clicking on my name highlighted in blue and then click on “Friends” tab at the top and then click on “Request to Review” and finally click on “Accept” button.

I am sending you a private message as well. Click on “Inbox” to respond to the message and provide system’s Service Tag so I may access your system configuration details and help you with the right driver.  You could also click on Start Conversation to send a private message.

If the Bluetooth drivers are present and you can see Bluetooth Radios on the Device manager, you check the following link on  Logitech Mini Boom box troubleshooting and setup.
Hope this helps. Please keep me posted.

Try posting on the Networking Internet Wireless section of this forum. Some of the folks there there know more about Bluetooth than on this board.

Hi mir77,

Thank you for your reply. I apologize for the delayed response; I was out of office. The screenshots were really helpful in understanding the issue.

It seems that the problem is with the Bluetooth stack being loaded from Microsoft. Please follow the steps below to change the device installation settings to never use the drivers from windows updates.

Click on Start, then open the Devices and Printers folder

open Devices and Printers folder

Right click on the Device with your computer name, select Device installation settings.

open the Device installation settings window

Configure the settings like this, then press Save Changes

never allow Windows install Device Drivers and Information automatically

After changing the settings, you will need to uninstall all the wireless and Bluetooth drivers. You can uninstall the drivers by going into the device manager, right click on the drivers and uninstall. Once the drivers are uninstalled restart the system and reinstall the Dell wireless and Bluetooth drivers and the Widdcomm drivers BTW_6.2.0.9700 and check the functionality.

Hope this helps. Please reply for any further questions.

Ok, this is pointless. No luck at all and everytime a remove the device Bluetooth device ( RFCOMM Protocol TDI) and Bluetooth device (PERsonal Area Network) and restart my computer those diveces are installed again. Even if I disconnect the wifi and unplug the UTP kabel from my router. So it seems that the "bad" MS driver is forever hidden in the system itself.

Thank you for your reply, it's amazing setting. I have no idea it even exists! But the setting you suggested was not helpful. I'll try the same with the BT_6.5.1.2501 provided by Dell on support website for this computer. It's the last resort. If this wouldn't work, I don't know what to do next.

Those are pictures of this unsucceful try:

Hi  mir77,

After doing some research I came across the Windows Mobile Device Center. Please follow the instructions below and install it. This is for the Windows Vista however you can use it with Windows 7 too.

Download the 'Windows Mobile Device Center' from the following link http://bit.ly/U6BwjT

Install the downloaded software but it may not look like it worked on Windows 7 PCs. Vista automatically configured the settings on the Bluetooth devices but for installing in Windows 7, here are the things you should do:

- Go to 'Device Manager' from 'Control Panel' -Or- just right-click on Computer icon and choose 'Properties' and then click on 'Device Manager'.

- You'll see an 'Unknown Device' named 'Bluetooth Peripheral Device'

- Right-Click it and click on "Update Driver Software" -Or- anyway you find it easy to bring up the Update driver window.

- Click Browse My Computer for Driver Software.

- Click on  "Let Me Pick from a List of Device Drivers on my computer".

- Select 'Bluetooth Radio' from the list if it asked you to select and then in the next window, it will show a list of drivers with Company Names in one list and Drivers in another. In the Company List choose'Microsoft Corporation', not only Microsoft.

- From the drivers list there may be one or more drivers with the name "Windows Mobile-Based Device Support" with different driver versions. Select one or the latest.

- Ignore any warnings and keep pressing next and then Finish at last. If all goes well, the last screen will show the message that device driver is successfully installed.

After manually updating the driver for your Bluetooth device, in 'Device Manager' when you click on 'Bluetooth Radios', it should display one more item which will say 'Windows Mobile-based device support'.

There are few more things that you want to pay attention to. If you have already added the device in your 'Bluetooth device list' that didn't work, then remove the device and add it again. After you add it, you might need to restart the computer if it gave you a connection problem error message.

Hope this helps. Please reply with the results.

I was unable install downloaded software from your link. There have been some kind of mistake. Anyway I tried the procedure suggested by you with no luck.

Those are screens from other PC with Windows 8 on which the device works. In past, on Windows 7 it worked and looked similar. Only difference I know about is architecture of the OS. No it's the 64-bit, other PC runs and allway been running 32-bit because of car diagnostic I use.

I've got another new information:

My cell phone looks messed up by the drivers too. It won't be just the Boombox problem, but the BT drivers in general.
