Inspiron 15 7000 - No Networks Found

Like many others we seem to be having wifi issues with out Inspiron 15 7000.

Most of the time the wifi icon doesn't even show up in the connection options unless I disable and re-enable to adapter. If the icon shows it never shows any networks, just No Networks Found. Our other laptops and phones show our network and neighbor's networks and this Inspiron used to show them too. It's not our home network.

From other posts I looked for SmartByte to remove it but it was not listed under Uninstall Programs.

Dell Support Assist and the Dell site say we have the latest drivers.

There is no warning in Device Manager for the Wireless entry. I tried disabling it there and detecting changes so it would start again, but that didn't help either.

Thanks for any help. The whole point of having a laptop is to be able to use it on the go.

Thanks.

Also check the Wireless Adapter Settings( On battery and Plugged in) are set to maximum performance.

Type Settings on search box, select Power & sleep, look far right and select Addition Power Settings, Change plan settings, Change advanced power settings, expand wireless adapter settings:

I'm assuming windows 10 is on the system....

Please type Control Panel onto the [Cortana] search box, select Network &Internet, Network And Sharing Center, and click on Change Advanced Sharing Settings. Place a check mark in the box by Turn On Automatic Setup Of Network Connected Devices under Network discovery and select Save Changes.

Sorry so long in responding to this. We tried both these things and updating all related drivers.

Sometimes we get the wifi toggle to appear in the popup from the taskbar, sometimes it doesn't show.

When it does show it can't find the wifi network even though it's sitting right next to the modem router. All other devices in the vicinity have no problem getting wifi from it.

I'm having the same issue. Just clean installed windows 10, installed the drivers, and I see the wifi symbol with a red X next to it in the toolbar. I've tried the above suggestions as well. Other devices have no issues finding and connecting to my wifi network. Any further ideas?

I know the post is a couple of years old but I have had this issue once before (after a Dell update)  I was able to follow instructions the previous time but these instructions don't work now.    Is it fixable?   My battery needs replacing, I can see no point if the WiFi will no longer work.    In addition my laptop microphone has stopped functioning.  I purchased an integrated webcam to overcome that problem.    The laptop performance is good so I don't want to buy a new one if I don't need to.

Hi GettingGray

Please list exact Dell Model number and version of windows. Example: Dell Inspiron 15 7567 (7000 series)

If you don't know, type msinfo32 onto search box, stroll down to System Model, you should see it now.  Windows should be listed in System Information as well.

In the meantime, run Dell Preboot Diagnostic to check the hardware within the system. You could do this step by following steps below:

1. Power off system

2. Power on system, quickly start tapping F12 key continuously until you see Preparing One Time Boot Menu in right corner of screen. In Dell Preboot menu, select Diagnostic and then enter. Report back any error code.

If there's no error code.....

Please check in device manager to see if the network adapter (wifi driver) is listed. Check if there's a yellow triangle listed by WIF driver if listed and  check if there's any yellow triangle listed by any of the other drivers as well. You will have to expand each drivers to check. A yellow triangle indicate there's a problem with the driver.

Type Device manager onto search box......

I'm having this problem too and it's 2021. Apparently, they never fixed it!

@TrishInRichmond

Which model?

What does Device Manager show?

Unless you provide further detail no one can help you.

I thought 'Inspiron 15 7000' was the model. There is a Service Tag # but that's it.

I keep receiving the same error message - that there is:

no networks found (and my network works for all other 9 devices)

the laptop does not seem to have the capability to find any networks and connect to them. i wonder if one of the dell or windows updates deleted them for some reason.

(I'm totally new to this, so thank you in advance for your patience.)

Thank YOU for helping me.

@TrishInRichmond

Please post a photo of the Device Manager.

The model number should be in the BIOS  (F12).

You can also use your Service Tag # to see the model number.

This information is a must!

Thanks. The support guy used the service tag # to give me drivers but now he says it is the software (although my laptop says it is the adapters) and I need to contact the Dell Software Support team. I am exhausted. I have been trying to resolve this problem for 9.5 hours today and 4 hours yesterday.

@TrishInRichmond

It is extremely rare for a network adapter to break.

Anyway, if you want to provide further info, others can try to help you but without that info, we can't help you.

I don’t suspect it ‘broke’. I suspect some sort of update caused them all to be removed or otherwise not work. Something interfered with the operation and it wasn’t me. I remember that Apple sent several updates that interfered with quality of phone calls such that everyone ran out and bought new(er) models. It may have been something like that… and it’s next to impossible to determine the source now.

What information do you need? (I received a warning message that I should remove my Service Tag # after I posted it.)

The update is the Dell rep told me it’s a software problem. He mentioned Windows and it’s all the original software.
