on T5500 syba sd-pex50055 pcie card - cannot configure as boot device

On boot on the T5500 (A16 boot ver) the disk attached to the Asmedia 106x ahci controller on a PCIe Syba sd-pex50055 is not recognized. The drive and controller work properly when Windows 7 is loaded.

Because the drive is not seen at boot time I cannot configure this drive as a boot drive. I have enabled AHCI in the BIOS but this does not make any difference. Also I get a warning when I load the driver when installing Windows 7 that the Asmedia controller is not enabled by the bios. I cannot find a setting in the Bios to correct this problem.

The T5500 is basically a SATA 2 (3.0 Gb/s) machine. With a SATA 3 SSD as the boot device on a card like the SATA 3 SYBA SD-pex50055 PCIe card performance would be greatly improved.

Any body know how to make the device on the PCIe card the boot device?

Thank you.

You must enable Legacy boot and Legacy boot roms.

UEFI Class 2.3.1  Secure Boot will not allow ANY Booting from Legacy cards.  If you install one drive on the controller and disable all other sata drives especially onboard it should boot. This is not a dell issue You need to take this up with SYBA.

On my T5500 I do not see anything to enable Legacy or UEFI in  bios. I have tried A11 & A16 versions.

I have Bios set to enable AHCI

Please advise.

Thank you.
