Dimension 9200 Power Supply: Connector P4

The fan in my Dimension 9200 power supply started making noise, so I'm thinking about replacing the power supply. In other threads, I have already found out that I can use an ATX12V-compliant power supply from a 3rd party, as long as it fits into the box.

What I can't figure out, though, is what "Connector P4" in the manual for the Dimension 9200 is. It's a 6-pin 2x3 connector with black, yellow, red and orange wires, and it is not a 6-pin PCI-E power connector. In fact, I can't even seem to find the connector in my computer, but I haven't looked all that closely.

Can anyone tell me what kind of connector that is, what it does, and if a replacement power supply really needs it?

Thanks in advance.

Your correct. Open your case cover and tell me if P4 cord is even being used.

The P4 plug is for the processor power connector on the motherboard close to the ram slots.

Hi Chris, thanks for your response.

Do you mean the "processor power connector" that's labeled as 20 in this diagram? That's for a 4-pin

connector (P2). P4 is a 6-pin connector.
