Digital camera USB failure to initialize
When connecting Konica Minolta Z6 camera to my Dell Dimension 8200 (Window/XP) the USB connection fails to initialize. This problem occurs when a high capacity (512mb) sd memory card is in the camera. Interestingly, the problem does not occur then a low capacity card (16mb) is in the camera. The camera, usb cable and all cards tested and worked fine on a different computer. Help anyone.

Could you explain "failed to initialize".
Many cameras use a proprietary formatting of the memory card and some of them are not directly XP compatible. Those should still be recognized by Windows XP but the Camera and Scanner Wizard may not automatically startup since that format is not XP compatible. However, in those cases you should still be able to access the camera through a drive letter in the Windows Explorer.

Tried a different brand SD Memory card with the same 512mb capacity as the one that failed and the new card properly completes the connection. It appears that the original memory card and my 8200's USB are incompatible for some reason. I'll report the problem to the card manufacturer and switch to the brand that works.
Card manufacturer Technical Support advised me to contact Dell...
