Purchase a new Alienware stock CPU liquid cooler?

My previous stock cooler stopped working (CPU at ~90C while gaming, fans running at 4000rpm) and I made the decision to upgrade to a Corsair H80i. The installation of the new part was less than smooth (due largely to the poor design, buggy software and supplied screws that were not fit for purpose).

I haven't quite decided whether I'm going to keep it yet - it depends on what Corsair customer support do - but if I had the option, I'd probably just be happy with a replacement Alienware stock cooler. I can't find it anywhere on Dell's spare parts site, are new units available for purchase?

And yeah, the warranty on my Alienware has expired :s

Seriously? *no-one* knows how to get a replacement alienware cooler?

*scratches head* Well, that's just great. What's the point in having a spare parts service when you can't purchase spare parts? Gah.

Cheers for the parts numbers, though.

As far as I know, you cannot buy one new from Dell, only used from us (1-800-357-3355) or 3rd party sites.

This is ridiculous. Out of interest what spare parts for an Aurora R3 can you not "buy new"? It's one of the reasons I won't be getting another Alienware PC BTW. I've been totally (insert appropriate swear word) off with owing a computer I have always wanted but had constant trouble with.

I said you could not buy a NEW one. I went on to say that you could call Dell Spare Parts and ask them if a used 01YGW was available for purchase.

Whether Aurora is non-ALX or ALX shouldn't matter in regards to the Asetek cooler (even though they might have different part numbers).

All R1-R4 "Releases" should also use the same Asetek cooler. Again, likely different part numbers. They might come with different back-mounting-plates because the CPU sockets have changed over the years. However, as a replacement part, it should work because you can reuse existing back-of-motherboard mount plate.

All we need is the Part # for NEW Aurora R4 Standard cooler from Dell Spare Parts ... and it should work on ANY R1-R4 Aurora. Should be available because they install them in new Aurora R4's all day long nowdays.

Then, there is the new Asetek Premium Cooler for non-ALX and ALX Aurora R4s. Due to MB and back-plate ... I wouldn't assume it also fits R1-R3 until someone tries it. Again, should be currently available because they get installed into new machines today.

Dell and Asetek decided to make the Aurora cooler proprietary by installing proprietary connectors on it. It would be irresponsible to not provide sales of new parts for currently shipping models (ie Aurora R4). There are other reasons but I can't mention them without my post getting pulled to moderation queue.

Yeah, that's what I didn't understand. Making the asetek cooler propriety would make sense if they were selling the parts, but making it propriety and *not* selling replacements just seems silly - everyone loses.

@Chris M... Sorry man, I understood what you were saying, my issue was that since this cooler had failed quite early, I wasn't keen on buying a *used* replacement. The fact they were much more expensive and the fact that, as a Brit, purchasing a used item overseas would leave me in a warranty minefield was'nt great, either.

If anyone needs a replacement, I can confirm a corsair h80i cooler works really well - check out the R4 aurora  (need advices) thread for a full account of how myself, Darkpool and raysz got our corsairs working.
