All,
I know that the Dell SSD PM800s were upgraded via firmware to have Trim support but there was no mention if the PM800 and PM810 supported Trim in a raid? LeeSana found this thread concerning SSD Trim support and raid. It basically says that Trim support is no go on raid with SSD drives. Has anyone loaded SSD drives on their Dell PC in a raid? If yes, was Trim a go or no go? Intel says, "Intel Rapid Storage Technology 9.6 supports TRIM in AHCI mode and in RAID mode for drives that are not part of a RAID volume.". But I do not know if our chipset drivers support it.

1. Can anyone confirm it with the Samsung PM810 256 GB though or Is it the same for all SSD?
2. How much performance gain when they are in RAID 0?
3. Life Expectancy?

Its the same for all sandforce driven SSDs. And it will be twice as fast in raid 0 literally. Different companies support programs that work like TRIM. Like for my OCZ SSDs I have a garbage collection program that kicks in when the computer is not in use.Check to see if intel has something like that available because raid 0 is the way to go.

But all i wanna know if the Samsung PM810 has TRIM support in RAID 0, that is all cause those are the ones i purchased. Also I think is a little late to switch to OCZ or intel.
@ C_ronic: does your OCZ VERTEX 2 SSD have TRIM supported in RAID 0? (wondering)
Thanks

My bad when i meant check with Intel I meant check with samsung. Look around the samsung site to see if there are any downloads for your SSDs. And no like I said mine and all SSDs dont support TRIM in raid(last time I checked). But they do have other programs that work similarly. You just gotta do research and find out which works for your drives.

I have tried checking but i can only find TRIM support without RAID 0. no one post anything about RAID 0 for these drives with TRIM support.
Okay i found this manual for the Samsung 470 Series SSD
http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/SW/201108/20110810143100417/Magician_Software_User_Manual_Ver.2.0_EN.pdf
near the bottom of page 14 it said "for best ssd performance, check that AHCI mode is turned on for the PC."
And when AHCI is implied it cannot run them in RAID so i am guessing is better off by themselves?
top of page 43 General Limitations #1 said some functions will not work when they are in RAID configuration.

Any one know a firmware upgrade and programs that work with PM810 I contacted Samsung and they told me this....
"If you have PM810 Series SSD then the Magician tool is not compatible with it as it is only designed for 470 Series SSD. Please note that the PM810 and the 470 Series SSD are 2 different products. Also if you received them from Dell the units are most likely OEM version from Dell in which they carry a different firmware version. In such case you would have to contact them for firmware upgarde.
Thank you for choosing Samsung."
