Questions.  When I format my usb drive what file types should I use? i.e.  fat 32, fat, ntsf?  Are the dos boot files available in win7 somewhere or do I need to use something like the hp boot utility?  Once I make the drive, on my aroura specifly, do I change the boot sequence in f2 or boot devices f12. Right now, There is no option in f2 to boot from usb only hddrive and cd/dvd.  Do I need to make the usb boot device and plug it in for it to be shown on the f2 boot config list?  When I rename the ao4 bios file in dos 8.3 format is ao4.exe good?   I'm sure there will be more questions.

thankyou

you don't need to rename that file. the bios-update-exe must be executed directly from windows.... worked well for me

O.K. more questions.  When I do try to boot from usb I get Boot mgr is missing.  I formatted ntsf, made disk partition active, and I sucessfully updated the ntsf bootcode.  I selected the usb as my primary boot and rebooted but get boot mgr missing.  I can still boot to hd fine. Any ideas?

thankyou

Why are you posting non bios questions on this thread? you should be posting in a new thread HERE

This thread is for dealing with overclocking a Alienware  system

Ha Ha! I spent the better part of the afternoon trying to follow the instructions included with the bios update.  Thanks buddy.  I'm now A04.  Boy sometimes I just feel old and stupid.  Oh, and I'll make sure I post any of my results OC here in this post. Sorry.

thanks

 Oh yeah. GO STEELERS!

Updated my Area-51 to A03 from A02 with satisfactory results (updated through Win7).

Loaded OC Profile 1 and the CPU now (i7 920) runs at 3.2Ghz.

Does this profile do anything special other than up the CPU volt by 20mV and disable Intel Turbo Tech and BCLK adjustment?

Seems that everything else has been left on Auto.

Also how come the Area-51 BIOS does not have an option to adjust the Uncore multiplier?

With this new A03 bios to enable i7 920 overclocking - does this mean that we can fully overclock the i7 920 or is it still locked to only "3.2Ghz"?

I was hoping to bump up the BCLK  abit further to achieve 3.5Ghz clockspeed.

Does this void the warranty if you turn on the overclocking
