PCIe slot running at x8?

Hi all,

I just purchased all alienware from Dell last month, i7 8700 (non K) with a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. I have noticed performance issues and fps in games is not where it should be and downloaded GPU-Z to see what the issue was. I ran GPU-Z and on the rendering test, the 1080 Ti is running at x8 instead of x16, which the card is capable of. I also checked my system information and it is saying the card is at PCI Express x8 Gen 3. Did Dell slot my card into the wrong PCIe slot? Is this something I have to return my PC under warranty for, or am I missing something that could fix this problem? Power saving is not an issue, it was set to max performance. Any help would  be appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, the slot is x8 . In fact, if you look on the motherboard, it's even marked/written that way.

But, it's x8-v3.0 (which is the same max-bandwidth as x16-v2.0) .

It's been discussed many times about Aurora R5/R6 and now R7. If you can't find the old threads, let me know and I will try to find them again.
