Things move fast in the land of VSPEX. Not only because VSPEX is designed to speed deployment for customers, but because we’re able to build, test and validate new VSPEX systems quickly. Speaking of which, you might have heard about the new multi-core optimized VNX arrays. More power, better performance, less cost. A compelling value proposition, don’t you think? Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to deploy that new technology as part of a simple, efficient and flexible VSPEX solution? Yeah, we thought so too.
Fortunately, we got our hands on the new VNX technology and set to re-architecting, testing and validating new VSPEX solutions to harness the power of multi-core optimized VNX systems. The results? A complete refresh of the VSPEX family.
First, VSPEX private cloud solutions continue to deliver all the same flexibility and simplicity as before. Now… they’re supercharged with 2x more virtual machines per VSPEX configuration (at the same price) and can be built on either Microsoft Hyper-V or VMware vSphere that supports up to 1,000 VMs. And … the VMware-based solution will be engineered to support vSphere 5.5 when it GAs. More power, more VMs, the latest technology.
Of course all customers run mission critical apps – we built VSPEX solutions just for that earlier this year and then updated them. And we’re at it again – check out the new SQL Server 2012 and Oracle 11g solutions here. Microsoft Exchange and SharePoint are scheduled to be delivered a bit later, so keep watching this space.
And we’re still not done. End user computing solutions for VSPEX are scheduled to be updated not only with new VNX, but also to use Citrix XenDesktop 7 and VMware Horizon View 5.2. We also wanted to add more choice to meet wide-ranging businesses – so we’re planning to prove a new solution that uses Microsoft Hyper-V at the virtualization layer.
Now, that which is powerful must be protected. We started with Avamar and Data Domain, and have since delivered VSPEX with VPLEX for continuous availability – now we’re updating the options to use the latest Data Domain – the DD2500 and DD4200 – the latest Avamar technology – Avamar 7 and Avamar-powered VMware vSphere Data Protection Advanced – and now VSPEX with RecoverPoint – to deliver continuous data protection. Customers choose hardware or software-based backup to protect their data to the level their businesses require.
We’re excited by what these new solutions will deliver to our customers. If over 3,600 VSPEX sold through June of this year is any indication – we anticipate even more VSPEX systems will be helping companies do business even better. One example: Acorda Therapeutics is using VSPEX to become more agile – so they can focus on doing what’s most important: delivering better treatments to those that suffer from nervous system disorders.
You can see the VSPEX private cloud, SQL Server and Oracle solutions here. The end user computing, SharePoint, Exchange and backup solutions are scheduled to be available on the VSPEX ECN space very soon.
