Last week we celebrated the one-year anniversary of the announcement of our IoT division. We reflected on our proudest milestones and challenges and got a chance to hear from winners of the “Connect What Matters” contest including maternity ward security solutions and connected concrete (yes, really!).
We’re really proud of the progress that we’ve made this past year. With the launch of award winning Edge Gateways and Embedded Box PCs (which start shipping today) and our quickly growing Dell IoT Solutions Partner Program, our efforts underscore Dell’s deep commitment to driving IoT adoption for real world use.
Here are a few of my other proudest moments from this year:
- Added over 45 partners to the Dell IoT Solutions Partner Program—from big name industrial, telco and enterprise companies like GE, Microsoft and SAP to start-up flowthings.io who’s working with the 168-year old Brooklyn Borough Hall to monitor things like energy usage, overcrowding, and even whether the handicapped-accessible entrances are blocked.
- We listened—A LOT. From a Think Tank discussion at Hannover Messe, multiple IoT Customer Advisory Councils and customer engagements across the globe, we listened to how we could design products and strategies, and enable our customers to handle this explosion of data and come up with a smart, practical approach to IoT.
- Industry recognition and awards for our products: the Dell Edge Gateway 5000 Series won a d&i award at Computex recently and our Embedded Box PCs were named Desktop Engineering Magazine’s Editor’s Pick.
