Last month, Dell’s Desktop Virtualization Solutions (DVS) group launched DVS Simplified to remove the cost and complexity roadblocks associated with desktop virtualization. At the same time, we rolled out the solution to our Dell PartnerDirect Partners, and so far it’s been a big hit. Being able to offer companies a simple to deploy and manage, out-of-the-box VDI appliance as part of their IT portfolios is a major differentiator for our partners, so they’re eager to take DVS Simplified to their customers.
DVS Simplified is a simple, practical VDI appliance and is ideal in environments without the kind of IT staff it typically takes to deploy desktop virtualization and in smaller environments that can’t be serviced by a large, central datacenter. The appliance integrates pre-configured Dell PowerEdge R710 hardware with factory installed Citrix VDI-in-a Box software and is easy to deploy, easy to manage, and easy to expand. It’s also cost-effective, with basic deployments projected to be under $500 per user. Dell channel partners can sell DVS Simplified as a fully integrated solution with all of the necessary software included. Customers simply need to plug in the appliance and begin configuring their VDI environment via the intuitive wizard-based setup. It’s easy to see why our partners are fired up!
As the first desktop virtualization solution from Dell targeted for resellers, DVS Simplified gives Dell PartnerDirect Partners a huge competitive advantage. All companies recognize how desktop virtualization can improve management, security and efficiency of their IT environment, but until now, organizations with simple use cases and IT environments have shied away due to the cost and complexity of implementing these solutions. DVS Simplified enables Dell partners to offer an integrated VDI appliance targeted specifically for these companies. It’s a real game-changer in the market and we’re excited to be leading the way.
DVS Simplified is a great solution for our partners because it offers them the flexibility to use their existing professional services expertise to help customers implement VDI solutions, or tap into Dell’s services group as necessary. Dell ProSupport is included with every appliance, providing 3-year support for all aspects of the hardware and software, meaning less time is spent on issue resolution resulting in greater productivity for our partners. Dell also has a number of optional services, including JumpStart Training and Remote Advisory Service to help get companies started. However, because the appliance is so easy to implement, many of our partners are finding that managing the deployment is a value-added service they can provide their customers directly.
Desktop virtualization is clearly top of mind for companies of all sizes, but until now it was only realistic for large enterprises. DVS Simplified is reshaping the desktop virtualization market and now Dell partners are able to make it a reality for their customers.
