Mother Nature Network (MNN) and Dell are teaming up to tell customer stories that focus on green technology. As part of this partnership with MNN, Dell is going to be featuring different customers on MNN’s website. The first one out of the shoot is Southern Company. As one of the largest U.S. utilities, Southern Company provides service to more than 4 million customers in the southeastern United States. This leading energy company minimizes its environmental impact by developing renewable energy sources, reducing energy consumption and offering award-winning energy efficiency programs. However, Southern is no stranger to the “green” limelight. I did a case study with them last year and you can read my blog post from last year here.
I had the privilege of attending the customer video shoot in Atlanta, GA at the very end of August. Everyone was so kind in hosting myself and our video crew. They showed us what the company is doing to be green; including how they are rolling out technology internally, eliminating trucks on the roads externally as well as testing products first hand in their technology showcase area. Becky Blalock, Sr. Vice President/Chief Information Officer and Stan Hoptroff, Director, Infrastructure Services spent some time with us in their studio talking about Southern Company and Dell. For more on what they had to say, watch the video.
This comes on the heels of Dell being named by Newsweek as the Greenest Company in America. Southern Company is a great example of how we’re helping our customers implement green technology that saves on energy costs.
