New VNXe-Based VSPEX Proven Architecture For Oracle 12c

It was just a year ago that Oracle announced Oracle 12c, the latest edition of their industry-leading database software. This new software was lauded as the first database designed for cloud environments, and it recognized customers’ increasing interest in database virtualization and consolidation.

When we speak to Oracle customers today, they tell us that consolidation is key. They love the multi-tenant capabilities of Oracle 12c, which allow them to add multiple databases to a single container without making any changes to existing applications.

As more of our customers look to upgrade to 12c, they realize that storage is a critical component of a dependable, high-performing database environment. In a recent Wikibon survey, the majority of respondents credited EMC® with having the best storage offerings for Oracle environments.

Today, we are happy to announce a VSPEX® Proven Infrastructure solution that is specially designed for customers looking to deploy a virtualized Oracle 12c database on EMC’s VNXe® technology and vSphere from VMware.

The solution has been tested by EMC to provide simplified deployments and predictable performance, while also giving customers the flexibility to choose their preferred server, networking, and backup/recovery technologies.

VNXe VSPEX

This new VSPEX solution for Oracle 12c is not the first VSPEX solution that is proven to simplify Oracle deployments. VSPEX solutions for Oracle 11g earned rave reviews from customers such as AgroLiquid, a fertilizer provider whose IT department has been tasked with helping the business maintain the 20% annual growth rate they have enjoyed since 2000.  Tracy Dunn, AgroLiquid’s Network Manager said, “Deploying a VSPEX solution with EMC Cisco, and VMware vSphere allowed us to efficiently migrate our ERP system to a virtualized Oracle JD Edwards environment. VSPEX assured that we didn’t need to purchase any additional hardware or licenses, and that we could have the system up in running in a matter of days instead of weeks. We’re excited to continue to work with EMC, Cisco, and VMware to further increase the performance of our Oracle applications in the future.”

Another customer experiencing  growth that has used VSPEX to maximize their Oracle performance is biotech firm Acorda Therapeutics.  Acorda Assistant Director of Network Operations Josh Bauer explained, “By deploying VSPEX, we were able to modernize our aging infrastructure and help the business to grow at a rapid rate. Virtualizing our Oracle Siebel Clinical Trial Management System on VSPEX was one of the first steps we took in a path that has led us to an environment that is now 100% virtualized. We’re looking forward to using the new features offered by VSPEX, like support for Oracle 12c, to enable even greater growth as we work towards our goal of improving the lives of those affected by neurological disorders.”

With this type of  track record, there’s no better way to virtualize Oracle 12c environments than with VSPEX.
