Removing the keyboard
CAUTION:The information in this section is intended for authorized service technicians only.
Prerequisites
- Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
- Remove the SIM card.
- Remove the base cover.
- Remove the battery.
- Remove the 4G WWAN card or 5G WWAN card, as applicable.
- Remove the WLAN card.
- Remove the memory modules.
- Remove the M.2 2230 or M.2 2280 solid-state drive from Slot 1.
- Remove the M.2 2230 solid-state drive from Slot 2.
- Remove the heat sink.
- Remove the assembly inner frame.
- Remove the system board.
About this task
The following images indicate the location of the keyboard and provide a visual representation of the removal procedure.
Steps
- Open the latch and disconnect the keyboard cable from the touchpad.
- Open the latch and disconnect the keyboard-backlight cable from the touchpad.
- Remove the twenty one screws (M2x2) that secure the keyboard bracket to the palm-rest assembly.
- Lift the keyboard bracket off the palm-rest assembly.
- Turn the keyboard bracket over.
- Remove the ten screws (M2x2) that secure the keyboard to the keyboard bracket.
- Lift the keyboard off the keyboard bracket.
