Removing the fingerprint reader (Optional)
CAUTION:The information in this section is intended for authorized service technicians only.
Prerequisites
- Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
- Remove the SIM card.
- Remove the base cover.
- Remove the battery.
- Remove the assembly-inner frame.
About this task
The following image(s) indicate the location of the fingerprint reader and provides a visual representation of the removal procedure.
NOTE:For computers with configuration of with fingerprint reader on power button, the power button must be transferred to replacement palm-rest assembly.
Steps
- Lift the latch and disconnect the fingerprint-reader cable from the connector on the USH board.
- Move the fingerprint-reader cable away from the fingerprint reader so that the cable is not covering the fingerprint reader.
- Remove the screw (M2x3) that secures the fingerprint-reader bracket to the palm-rest assembly.
- Slide and remove the fingerprint-reader bracket from the palm-rest assembly.
- Lift the fingerprint reader, along with its cable, off the palm-rest assembly.
