Removing the keyboard

CAUTION:The information in this section is intended for authorized service technicians only.

Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
Remove the nanoSIM card.
Remove the base cover.
Remove the battery.
Remove the memory module.
Remove the M.2 2230 solid-state drive.
Remove the wireless card.
Remove the WWAN card.
Remove the fan.
Remove the heat sink.
Remove the speakers.
Remove the assembly inner frame.
Remove the system board.
NOTE:The system board can be removed and installed with the heat sink attached to simplify the procedure and preserve the thermal bond.

The following images indicate the location of the keyboard and provide a visual representation of the removal procedure.

Open the latch and disconnect the keyboard cable from the touchpad.
Open the latch and disconnect the keyboard backlit cable from the touchpad.
Remove the seventeen screws (M2x2) that secure the keyboard bracket to the palm-rest assembly.
NOTE:One of the screws is located under the touchpad cable.
Lift the keyboard bracket off the palm-rest assembly.
Turn the keyboard bracket over.
Remove the four screws (M2x2) that secure the keyboard to the keyboard bracket.
Lift the keyboard off the keyboard bracket.
