Installing the smart card reader

CAUTION:The information in this section is intended for authorized service technicians only.

If you are replacing a component, remove the existing component before performing the installation process.

This procedure is applicable to computers shipped with smart card reader.

The following images indicate the location of the smart card reader and provide a visual representation of the installation procedure.

Using the alignment posts, align and place the smart card reader on the palm-rest assembly.
Replace the three (M2x2.5) screws to secure the smart card reader to the palm-rest assembly.
Adhere the smart card reader cable to the palm-rest assembly.
Connect the smart card reader cable to the connector on the USH board.

Install the system board.
NOTE:The system board can be removed and installed with the heatsink attached to simplify the procedure and preserve the thermal bond.
Install the assembly inner frame.
Install the speakers.
Install the heat sink.
Install the fan.
Install the WWAN card.
Install the wireless card.
Install the M.2 2230 solid-state drive.
Install the memory module.
Install the battery.
Install the base cover.
Install the nanoSIM card.
