Installing the drive backplane

Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions.
Follow the procedure listed in the Before working inside your system.
Remove the drive backplane cover.
If installed, remove the air shroud or remove the GPU air shroud.
Remove the cooling fan cage assembly.
Remove the drives.
If required, remove the rear mounting front PERC module.
Observe and disconnect the drive backplane cables from the connector on the system board and backplane.
NOTE:See cable routing section for more information.

NOTE:To avoid damaging the backplane, remove the disconnected backplane cables from the cable routing clips.

NOTE:Route the cable properly when you replace it to prevent the cable from being pinched or crimped.

Align the slots on the drive backplane with the guides on the system.
Slide the drive backplane into the guides on the system and lower the backplane until one or more blue release tabs clicks into place.
