Removing expansion card from the expansion card riser
Prerequisites
- Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions.
- Follow the procedure listed in the Before working inside your system.
- Remove the air shroud.
- If installed, remove the expansion card riser.
- If applicable, disconnect the cables from the expansion card.
Steps
- Turn-over the the expansion card riser, and holding the expansion card by its edges, remove the card from the riser.

- Install a expansion card filler bracket if you are not going to replace the
expansion card.NOTE:You must install a filler bracket over an empty expansion card slot to maintain Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certification of the system. The brackets also keep dust and dirt out of the system and aid in proper cooling and airflow inside the system.
