VMware vSAN license overview

Follow these steps to activate the VMware vSAN license on your cluster.

About this task

Internet access is required for this process. Work with your sales representative or reseller to obtain a license if Internet access is unavailable.

You do not need a VMware vSAN license to use dynamic node clusters or satellite nodes.

Steps

  1. If you purchased your vSAN license from Dell, locate your partner activation code (PAC).
If your vSAN license is part of an existing VMware ELA, go to step 3.
  2. Log in to the VMware activation portal and redeem your PAC to receive your vSAN license keys.
Use your My VMware credentials or create an account if you do not have one.
  3. In My VMware, prepare a vSAN license key that meets your VxRail cluster vSAN license requirements.
  4. Enter your vSAN license key on the vSphere Client and apply it to your VxRail clusters as needed.
