From the VMware vSphere Client, select
Hosts and Clusters from the left navigation bar.
Click the cluster to which you want to add a VxRail host.
Select the
Configure tab.
Select
VxRail > Hosts from the inner left navigation window and click
ADD.
You can also click the
Actions menu next to the cluster name and select
VxRail > Add VxRail Hosts.
Do one of the following:
To add a host within the same rack space select the host and click Add Host. This is level 2 from a network configuration perspective.
To add a host from another rack space that is set up to use a ToR switch and spine switch for connectivity, click
Add Proxy and specify a proxy node from that target rack space and begin the VxRail host addition procedure. This is level 3 from a network configuration perspective.
Level 2 and level 3 models are not compatible. VxRail does not support converting from one to the other. Clicking
Add Host launches the level 2 procedure. Clicking
Add Proxy triggers a wizard to identify the proxy node on another rack to start the level 3 procedure.
