VxRail networking port options
Several factors determine VxRail port options.
The VxRail model for the cluster, and the number of CPUs installed per node impact the following:
- Supported Ethernet and FC adapter card models
- The number of slots available for expansion
- Maximum number of networking ports per node
The following networking connectivity rules apply to VxRail nodes:
- Integrated NDC/OCP ports must be installed into the back of each VxRail node. A VxRail node cannot be ordered without an NDC/OCP adapter selection.
- VxRail 16G nodes can be ordered with or without integrated OCP NICs.
- There is only one NCP/OCP slot per VxRail node. One option can be selected per VxRail node.
- PCIe expansion slots can be populated to support VxRail cluster networking or networking requirements outside of VxRail.
The integrated and expansion network connectivity options are displayed for the following VxRail nodes that are based on the PowerEdge:
- 16th generation Intel platform
- 15th generation Intel platform
- Platform with AMD processors
The following figures show the network connectivity options that are supported for base connectivity on the integrated adapter cards for each VxRail:
